FromSoftware games are known for allowing a player to enter your realm and help you defeat a crazy difficult boss. Once the boss has been defeated, the player is forced to return to his game, and you are left once again alone, waiting for the next time for someone to tag along.
Being able to play an Elden Ring game the whole way through with another player most likely was a huge fan wish, so when FromSoftware announced that Elden Ring Nightreign would be a co-op game, players rejoiced. Finally, a FromSoftware game was fully co-op. However, later on, it was revealed that there was a catch to the whole co-op thing: you had to have three players.
Three players was not a choice but a requirement; either three players or face the new game alone once again.
Even though multiplayer games where four people play together are required for three is weird. Even Call of Duty, where many gamers might play together, still gives gamers the ability to play with one other person.
Not being able to choose a second player and being forced to play with two other players is a step in the wrong direction. Hopefully FromSoftware will send some type of software update that allows the ability for two players in the future.
